Welcome to Day 7 of The Turnaround’s 52 Days of prayer.
INTRODUCTION
Moses wrote those words to the Nation of Israel during their time in the wilderness. They had seen God part the sea, manna delivered from heaven, and sadly, built a golden calf to worship. Moses is reminding them, and us, of who God is and His incomprehensible power and majesty.
INSIGHT
God exists outside of time. God sees everything that has ever happened or will ever happen. He is all powerful. He cannot be stopped. His will is undeniable. He commands obedience not only through His Word and Sacred Scripture, but also by His very Nature. To obey, worship, praise, and love Him is the natural and ideal state of man. Moses reminds us of the holiness and awesomeness of God because too often we forget.
God’s infinite power, might, and majesty are made all the more remarkable in that He made US!
Why?
What could we possibly have to offer Him? He created each one of us in His own image for His own perfect purposes. He WANTED to create us. Equally amazing is that He loves us. He LOVES each one of us. He cares about us more than we care about ourselves. Why else would He know how many hairs are on our heads?
He is “the faithful God who keeps His covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.” We are commanded to follow God’s example and imitate His son Jesus. We are to keep His commandments and to love Him. Only in this way will we experience the richest and fullest life that He made for us and made us for.
Loving God means that He is the most important in all things, in every situation. Why do we love Him? For the blessings? Yes. Amen! But more importantly, we love Him because He deserves it, because He first loved us, AND, because He IS love. We were made to worship, obey, and love God. Anything else is contrary to God’s design and His will.
The most important “gift” any of us can give to another person is the gift of Jesus Christ. What an awesome gift it is to have a relationship with God, the Creator and Sustainer of everything. It is incomprehensible that He loves us, but He does. He’s given us His Word and His son to show us how to live so that we might experience life in all its fullness and that through Jesus we might have eternal life with God in Heaven.
TURNAROUND QUESTIONS
Just like the children of Israel, we too can create our own idols. In today’s fast paced world, what choices can you make to remain focused on the one true God?
PRAYER
God. You are the one true God. You are our God, our provider, our shelter, our protector, and so much more. Help us to see quickly when we cast You aside for our idols of today. Forgive us, Father, for straying. Help us to obey Your commandments. Thank you for Your promises and for loving us. Guide us to those we need to share Your love with. Lord, we also ask how to guide us to lay a strong foundation for our children. In Jesus Name, Amen.
