Welcome to the Turnaround!
Introduction
Psalm 139:13-18 is a familiar portion of Scripture, but have you ever stopped to consider childhood begins here? This passage speaks powerfully about God’s involvement in our lives even before we take our first breath. “For you created my inmost being you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” Here, we see the Divine Artist at work, intricately crafting each detail of our being. The imagery of knitting illustrates careful, intentional design—a reminder that every child is formed with purpose, with love, and to become a unique reflection of God to the world.
Personhood, childhood, is firmly established in the womb by our creator. As God followers we must pause and consider His heart for life.
Insight
In our fast-paced and sin-stained world, it’s easy to overlook the sacredness of life, childhood, that begins in the womb. The hidden humanity within this sacred space is often unnoticed and unvalued. Tragically, the womb, which should be the safest place on Earth, is statistically the most dangerous. Children in the womb are among the most persecuted, hidden, and unreached people groups, and yet even there we are known and cherished by God. This reveals the Father’s profound love and care for us, granting each of us value that is anchored to Him and transcends any devaluation experienced in this world.
God’s thoughts toward us are profound and numerous, as the psalmist expresses, “How vast is the sum of them!” This serves as a reminder of the unfathomable depth of God’s love and concern for each one of us. Imagine the heart of the Father, who diligently contemplates each of His image bearers with an intimate understanding of our joys, struggles, and desires. Consider also the immense sacrifice He made by sending His Son, Jesus, to redeem sinners; a testament to His boundless grace and mercy. The willingness to endure suffering for our sake reveals a love that is sacrificial and transformative. Recognizing our value is not only a source of comfort but also a call to action. It invites us to reflect on our worth and the worth of children in God’s eyes. We are challenged to respond to that love by embracing our identity as beloved children of God, speaking up for and protecting the most vulnerable in the womb, and sharing the message of Christ’s love with all. Each day, we can hold onto the assurance that we are never alone, deeply valued, and constantly thought of by a perfect Father. Let us unite in faith and action, creating a culture of hope and love that uplifts every life and brings glory to our great God in Heaven!
The most impacting prayers that I have heard for children were prayed by children. They seem to have a deep connection emotionally and spiritually. The Father loves hearing the prayers of children!

We praise you for his life-giving act on the cross that saves every person who believes and trusts in him. Please help me to show your love to all other human beings. Thank you that your Word says whoever welcomes a little child in your name welcomes you. Help me to know how I can help speak up for children and for the wonderful gift and miracle of life.
