Introduction
The disciples came and asked Jesus, who the greatest in the kingdom is? Jesus could have answered by pointing to Himself instead, Jesus drew their attention to a child. The disciples needed to be moved to a place of humility and remembrance and God used this lesson to demonstrate how important children are to Jesus.
INSIGHT
I remember when my daughters Ruth and Naomi were young and both had visitation from The Lord. I remember Ruth telling me she had a message from The Lord and He told her to tell us ‘He loves little children.’
Naomi said Jesus came to fish with her and wanted to teach her how to fish. This visitation marked me and prepared me for the season I am living in. I am thankful that God revealed His heart for children to me through my daughters.
I grew up in Nigeria, Africa and as the first of six children, I had a great example in my father who loved all of us. We knew how important children were because my dad always let us invite every child to our home to play pin pone. Our home became a place of refuge for everyone who needed a place to stay.
In the story of the disciples, we learn some important things about God. In order to be the greatest in His kingdom we must become like little children. Jesus called a little child forward, who may have been four or five years old. What qualities of a child do you think Jesus was referring to? Young children are trusting, they are open and vulnerable, and they risk without fear especially in areas of relationships.
Children don’t know that they can’t just talk to strangers, they believe with all their hearts and whatever someone says to them is received innocently.
This is why it is so important that we protect our Children. We have seen how the enemy has tried to take our children and deceive them through an attack on their minds and an attack on their identity. Our children are under attack. This is why it’s important to follow the word of The Lord in Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old, he will not depart from it.
We need an all hands-on deck to bring our children back to Jesus. Starting in our homes, in our churches, in our schools. Jesus Loves little children and it takes humility to know that children are important to Jesus. As protectors we need to take seriously the warning to protect the next generation from anything or anyone that wants to corrupt them.
Matthew 18:10 says, “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.”
TURNAROUND QUESTION
Are you ready to get involved in the fight for the family?
Let us invite The Lord to move us to the place of humility and action as we remember the heart of Jesus for children, and invite The Holy Spirit to move us to pray for protection for our children.
PRAYER
Yeshua, thank you for the victory of the cross and the power of your blood. We bring our families under the protection of the blood of Jesus Christ and we stand on the finished works of the cross and boldly stand in gap for the next generation and we declare over Fathers and mothers, Leaders and teachers a boldness to stand for the next generation.
