Day 36: Loving God Brings Obedience and Blessing

April 3, 2025

Deuteronomy 30:9-10

"The Lord your God will make you abound in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your land for good. For the Lord will again rejoice over you for good as He rejoiced over your fathers, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this Book of the Law, and if you turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul."

Introduction

Today is Day 36 of 52 Days of Prayer for The Children. We know that loving God is about the act of obeying God. Obeying God brings about blessings. We are incredibly blessed to see the ultimate example of obedience to God in Jesus!

Insight

Obedience to God and God’s word is absolutely vital in order to parent children in today’s age. Our children are constantly bombarded with lies from the enemy, and keeping God’s word and being obedient to Him, is the best example to provide to your children in dealing with the ramifications of a society that wants to remove God’s Word from our culture.

Obedience is not always easy. Just like parenting. There are times in which your children may lash out, be unable to regulate their feelings, or simply fight with their siblings; but as adults and parents we must remember that we are the example we set for our children. Parenting through God’s word can humble even the most devout Christians. Staying obedient to God’s word often brings criticism and ridicule. By remaining steadfast in God’s word, as parents, we try to show our children that no matter what people say about you, God’s word is the way, the truth, and the light.

As Christians we are out on this Earth to further God’s Kingdom, and that starts at home. Remaining obedient to God’s word can be very difficult at times, but we must remain vigilant in fighting for our children. Their future depends on it.

Turnaround Questions

Are you willing to obey God?

Can you obey God when you don’t know where you’re going or what God wants you to do?

Do you recognize how important it is for children to see our faithful obedience?

When God’s children obey their Heavenly Father, He is glorified. Why do you think it is important for others to see us obey God?

Prayer

Father God, thank you for all that you are. Thank you for being kind and loving and giving us Your Word to live by. Lord, obedience is so hard. Especially in a world that is contrary to You. Thank you for the grace You give us. Lord, help us to see that obedience is love. And help our children learn this. Help us to instill upon our children the importance of obedience and soften their heart to obey. Father, we ask that you give our children strength and wisdom to navigate today’s culture and what’s to come. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
