Welcome to The Turnaround!
Introduction
We must proclaim His goodness from one generation to the next! Psalm 145:4 is a verse that every parent should hide in their hearts. It not only is a commandment to parents and grandparents, it’s a command to the entire church. A command to not remain silent but to tell of the goodness of God. Too often we do not live in the fullness of God because we forget what God has done for us. When we forget, we do not tell the next generation. When we do not tell them, the next generation does not know. If we want the next generation to live in the fullness of God, it’s time for the church to tell of all the glorious things that He has done in our lives.
Insight
In this passage, we see the Psalmist David is proclaiming the goodness of God and proclaiming how great and mighty his God is. As he is proclaiming this goodness he says “One generation SHALL commend your works to another.” It’s not a passive statement but a command that says we SHALL!
As believers we have sat back and let the culture proclaim its so-called “truth” to a generation of children. However, this “truth” leaves out sound biblical teaching and so much more. Yes, I believe that it is important to teach the scriptures and to make sure that our children understand the truth that comes from only God’s word. However, I believe that it is also important to tell of all the things that God has done in our lives as well. How will a child know that God will show up in their time of need? I believe the answer is that when we tell them how God showed up for us.
Something incredible happens when the people of God remember what He has done for us. We remember where we were before Jesus rescued us, what He rescued us from and where we are now. I also think something incredible happens when we become His witnesses and tell the next generation of what he did. Psalm 145:4 gives us this mandate and Psalm 78 gives us a proclamation that all believers should be declaring. “We will not hide these things from our children, I will tell the coming generation, the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might and the wonders that he has done.” It goes on to say we do this so that every coming generation will set its hope on God.
I leave you with this: It’s time for the church to remember what God has done and it’s time for the church to tell the next generation so that they can know the hope and goodness that comes when one generation proclaims to another.

Prayer
Lord God, I thank you for all that you have done from the beginning of time. Thank You for all that you have created. Your amazing glory shines through in each part of it. I also thank You for all of your goodness and all that You have done throughout our lifetime. Help us to remember all that You have done, and give us the courage to tell the next generation. We do this so that they will know You, and know all that You have done. Protect this generation like only You can, and help them set their eyes on You! In the name of you son, Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen!
