Welcome to The Turnaround!
Introduction
Welcome to Day 27 of The Turnaround’s 52 Days of Prayer. As we near the end of this week, let today remind us why we need Jesus and how His love saves us. Challenging social norms is difficult, especially when others do what we shouldn’t, especially pornography.
Insight
What happens when the world influences Christians? To explore this, we must understand Judges. The book follows Joshua’s death, the leader who led the Israelites into the Promised Land. He instructed the tribes to stay faithful to the Torah and reflect God’s character. However, Judges show their failure. God commanded them to destroy Canaanite towns, but they disobeyed, leading to moral corruption. Though called to be holy, but they adopted Canaanite ways
In Judges 2:10-12, we see the consequences of this disobedience. Verse 10 explains that Joshua’s generation, who had personally witnessed God’s mighty works, passed away. Because of a failure to pass down faith, the new generation grew ignorant of God’s power. In verse 11, the Israelites abandoned the one true God and turned to worship Baal, engaging in rebellion and sin. Verse 12 further reveals how they broke their covenant with God, adopted pagan religious practices, and created a division between themselves and the Lord. Their faith was compromised as they pursued false gods instead of remaining devoted to Him.
Similarly, today’s world presents a crisis of faith, particularly among children who encounter harmful influences like pornography at a young age. Just as the Israelites faced the choice between serving God or false idols, modern youth are confronted with choices that shape their spiritual lives. There are good pictures, such as a family portrait or a beautiful sunset, and they tell us what to do good things, but there are also bad pictures. These videos or photographs show parts of their body that a bathing suit should cover up. These pictures make me want to do bad things. The world twists the truth about pornography. Many kids come across pornography and the destruction begins. Pornography distorts love, damages relationships, and creates shame, making it harder to seek God.
We must foster a strong relationship with Him to remain pure, remembering He calls us to holiness and love.
Turnaround Questions
How does this apply to personal accountability in fighting temptations like pornography?
Will we be a generation that realizes the goodness and love of God?
Will we seek God or our fleshly desire like pornography?
What practical and spiritual steps can someone take to break free from pornography addiction?
Prayer
Father, We come to You today in a call of obedience to you, Lord and Your Commands. Help me flee from my fleshly desire and keep my eyes fixed on You. Lord, I ask that You keep my generation from the addiction to pornography. I pray You awaken my generation to see the importance of focusing on You, not the world. Lord, we praise You in all of the goodness and mercy that flows from You. Protect my eyes and my heart from the grips of pornography so that I may be a faithful servant to You. I pray that my generation will be the generation to remind the next of the Good News of Jesus to their children and then their children’s children. Lord, I just thank You for Your Son who died on the cross from our sin, then rose and defeated the grave, for we now live in the presence of a merciful God. We praise You and thank You for all You do. In Jesus’ name, Amen
