Welcome to The Turnaround’s 52 Days of Prayer!
Introduction
This is day 41, and the title is, Repair of the City. Our key verse for today is Isaiah 61:4. The verses in Isaiah 61 that precede number four reveal the prophetic words of the coming Christ. The wonderful works that were announced in this scripture were to be accomplished because “The Spirit of the Lord” was upon Him. His mission was to heal the broken hearted, proclaim liberty, to free those who are bound, proclaim the Lord’s favor, and to bring joy to those who are grieving. The objective of His mission was to establish “The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.” When Jesus Christ completed the work of His first coming, He ascended to the right hand of the Father. He commissioned his followers to continue this work in His name and by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Insight
If you were to lean in close to the words of Isaiah, you will see two distinct dimensions in this verse. One of them is obvious, that is the spiritual component from God‘s Word. The second is the political overture of a city of devastation and suffering. It sounds like a city devoid of Christian faith. But wait, today people are saying we should never mix Christian Faith and politics. That is so far from the truth. Removing our Christian faith from the operations of our government is what brings ruin.
The Cambridge dictionary defines politics as activities of the government members, of law-making organizations or people who are trying to influence the way a country is governed. Many years ago, I heard the definition of politics as the affairs that relate to the city. We know some type of spiritual influence will guide people in political positions. So, the affairs of our cities will be destined for ruin without the guidance of our Christian faith.
Turnaround Questions
Just for the purpose of gathering today in fellowship, can we look at our entire state as one massive city? Can we pull our prayers and declarations together as one by the authority our Father has given us to repair and to nourish our city? Will we forge our Christian faith with our political energies and deny the naysayers on the behalf of our city? Will we not grow weary in the assignment of doing our Father’s will?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we praise You for Your loving kindness! We thank You for caring for us right where we live here in the part of the heartland called Oklahoma. You see where our city needs repairing, and we see it as well. You know the solution to bring about the repairing of our city, and You placed us here to perform that work by Your awesome power. By Your Spirit, we will restore what the enemy has torn down. We gladly partner with You to bring life into the empty, broken places and to welcome a godly restoration of hope for generations to come. In Jesus Name, Amen!
